For centuries , monasteries were the seat of learning of buddhist practice and places of great benefit for monks and nuns, as well as for lay practitioners and society. Sravasty Abbey follows this tradition in offering an environment conducive to the study of buddhist meditation. Fully ordained nuns, novices and lay practitioners live together. The aim of Sravasty Abbey is, through the ancient teachings of the Buddha, to develop peace in the heart of those members who live there, in those who come to visit and carry it out into the world.
